About

As a long-time automotive enthusiast, I've always been dissatisfied with the factory offerings when it comes to infotainment, and it's always been one of the first things I've modified on any vehicle I've owned.
When I bought a B7 Audi RS4 in late 2017, I knew I wanted to retrofit at a minimum Bluetooth phone/media capability, but struggled to find any option that didn't suck. I spent a good two years testing various options -- add-ons for the factory RNS-E navigation unit, an upgraded version not offered in the US market, and at least a dozen aftermarket units. All of the options were lacking in one way or another.
Then I came across the Android-based units from various Chinese suppliers. These offered the functionality I wanted, and some looked reasonably OEM+, but all lacked the fit and finish I wanted. So I hacked the units, reworking the software, customizing the interface. I got wiring diagrams and stripped out all the crap that wasn't needed. I added line-level adapters to ensure a clean output to the factory amp at the correct level. Finally, I had something I was reasonably satisfied with.
So of course I shared this with other RS4 owners in the various forums and chats I was a part of, and predictably I was flooded with inquiries: where did you get that? how can I get one? And thus MattDevoCustoms was born, at least in concept.
Over the last few years, I've continued researching and testing new units as they have become available, mainly for myself, but also to share with other enthusiasts who share my desire for a clean OEM+ solution. As new vehicles have come into my garage, I've added them to the offerings I've shared with the community. And after years of sharing info via forums and social media, I've finally gotten around to setting up a website with everything I've built and want to share.
Thanks to everyone who has supported me on this journey so far, and please let me know how I can be of assistance to you.
Cheers,
Matt
